In the mid-nineteenth century, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow published "Tales of a Wayside Inn", a work modeled after The Canterbury Tales and the Decameron, in which a group of travelers gathered at an inn tell stories in verse. The author of this volume, a minister of the Universalist Church, undertook to discover the real-life names and stories of those un-named characters in Longfellow's work. He also includes a brief history of the real-life inn in Massachusetts, and a chapter on Longfellow. Inscribed by the author on the flyleaf. Red boards with bumps on spine. Dustjacket chipped and torn but intact. N° de ref. de la librería 000026
