Editorial: Parker Furnivall & Parker,
Año de publicación: 1851
Encuadernación: Soft cover
8vo., First Edition, with numerous diagrams in the text, contemporary signature on blank preliminary and title; original red limp cloth wrappers lettered in gilt and blocked in blind, marbled edges, marbled endpapers, a remarkably well-preserved, bright, fresh copy. This copy was formerly in the possession of Alfred Howell Jones of 9th Lancers and bears his signature on blank preliminary and title. Thomas Robbins served as Adjutant of 5th (Princess Charlotte of Wales's) Dragoon Guards. At the time of writing the regiment had returned from the Peninsula (where it distinguished itself at Salamanca) and was readying to leave for the Crimea where it served at Balaklava. The work was evidently popular, for Parker reprinted it at least twice, and it remains an important collation of cavalry formations, manoeuvres and commands of the mid-Victorian period.
