A very large, uncoloured folding map, comprising six sheets, dissected into a total of 120 sections, mounted on linen. The total unfolded size is 203 x 170cm. When folded the six sheets fit into a marbled paper covered chemise and a contemporary outer slip case covered in marbled paper with a leather gilt spine giving it the appearance of a book when on the library shelf. The case bears the tile and the impressed mark of the Vienna retailer D'Artaria. The map is in excellent clean condition and the case has only minor wear with some fading to the gilt lettering. The map, on a scale of 15 German miles to a degree, extends from the eastern shores oif Lake Constance [Bodensee] to Reichenhall and Berchtesgaden in the east and from Isny and Kempten in the north to Lake Garda in the south. The areas surrounding the Tyrol [parts of Bavaria, Carinthia, Italy, Switzerland, etc] have details of rivers and towns but, unlike the main area of the map, do not show contours. A map from the era of the Napoleonic Wars. N° de ref. de la librería 007281
