vii, 240pp. Later half leather with patterned boards, ex religious library with armorial labels and a stamp confined to front endpapers much older armorial bookplate [W H Mill] to a free blank and an armorial bookplate of a religious college to the verso of the title page, no other ownership markings. The binding is sound and the contents very clean. An unusual and very early work on the College founded by the Governor General Lord Wellesley to further the study particularly of oriental languages and culture: it produced thousands of oriental translations. The college's early disputations on oriental languages are recorded here. The book offers some insight into the early beginnings of the Bengal Enlightenment.
