Descripción:

(1867-1916). Spanish pianist and composer of the piano suite Goyescas. ALS. ("E. Granados"). 1p. 8vo. Barcelona, N.d. To the director of a concert guide in Paris. On stamped "Academia Granados" stationery. In French with translation. "I would be most grateful if you would send me a complete collection of the Concert Guide for the entire year of 1911. I shall pay you in whatever way I am instructed, either by postal note or through subscription fees, whenever you like. Yours most cordially." Granados first found success in his native Spain with Maria del Carmen and after the 1898 Madrid production of this zarzuela, the composer was decorated by the king. His greatest triumph was his Goyescas, an homage to Francisco de Goya, Granados' favorite painter, and first performed in Barcelona in 1911. After the 1914 performance of Goyescas at the Salle Pleyel in Paris, Granados was inducted into the French Legion of Honor. In 1916, while returning home from the United States where his work had been enthusiastically received, his ship was torpedoed by a German submarine in the English Channel. In generally fine condition. Very Rare. * All our items are sent via Federal Express. Additional postage may be necessary. N° de ref. de la librería 000236
