No, don't worry, I'm not on a diet but whatever book Annie Bell writes is always sure to contain recipes I want to cook. Her latest, Low-Carb Revolution, is no exception. The Sausage & Onion Roast is a perfect case in point, even if I'd choose to accompany it with some good, crusty white bread!--Nigella Lawson
British food writer Annie Bell gave up bread, potatoes, rice and pasta a few years ago and claims that by doing so she lost pounds and maintained her weight. Plenty of people will attest to the same thing, though many go back to those four foods because they love them so much. There was a time when low-carb eating meant high-fat noshing but Bell provides recipes for much more balanced eating, keeping the pork rinds in check. Audience: This is a basic cookbook with 140 mostly main-dish recipes that can be tackled by home cooks of varying skill levels. The photos are lovely (though we wish there were more) and inspiring enough to push us into the kitchen. Bell has a food blog (anniebell.net) and we bet that her readers will enjoy this book.--Janet K. Keeler "Tampa Bay Times, 1/5/2015 "
British food writer Annie Bell focused her savvy on reducing sugar/carb addictions in Low Carb Revolution: Comfort Eating for Good Health, with her omnivorous gusto evident in Slow-Roast Salt and Pepper Duck and garlicky, spicy mushroom caps.--Bonnie S. Benwick "The Washington Post, 1/12/2015 "
Diet cookbooks can be just like, well, being on a diet - basic recipes paired with pounds of advice. Low Carb Revolution, by Annie Bell, stands out in a couple of ways. First, it's kind of chic-looking, what with all those drawings in the style of 1950s fashion plates. Then there are the recipes. Keep hunger (and muffin tops) at bay with a steaming bowl of Curried Chicken and Coconut Soup (4.2 grams of carbohydrates), or Autumn Veggie Lasagna (10.3 grams of carbs). If you've ditched the bread and sugar, this book is worth a look. Here's a sampling of what's inside.--Lorraine Eaton "The Virginian-Pilot, 1/28/2015 "
