History In Evidence - Tapa dura

This book is a part of a new series which encourages the young reader to deduce how our ancestors lived from a study of the primary evidence unearthed by archaeologists. In this volume the author reveals what life was like for the Saxons who ruled most of Britain for the 600 years between the departure of the Romans and the arrival of the Normans. Archeologists have uncovered enough clues to be able to provide us with a good idea of the clothes they wore, the houses they lived in, the food they ate, the crafts they practised, their religion and their customs and pastimes.
