More than anything for Christians, Christmas is about anticipating the birth of Christ. What better way to cultivate a sense of anticipation than by looking at the Word of God as a whole and seeing how the wonder of Jesus’ love seeps into every part of it. Glimpsing the Divine is an Advent devotional for individuals or families to use during the 25 days leading up to Christmas. It takes a look at various stories and passages from the Old Testament and shows how all the stories in the Bible are merely parts of the greater story of God the Father redeeming his beloved creation by sending his Son into the world. Glimpsing the Divine invites families to wonder how the Word made flesh, Jesus, flows in and out of every part of the Word of God. Each chapter or devotional features a Scripture reading, a meditation and an original, impressionist painting to view and discuss in conjunction with the Bible passage. In addition each chapter features a “Let’s Talk About It” section with questions to engage the reader as well as a short prayer.
