Scene I. - Madrid.

In the Puerta del Sol. A knot of common Spaniards talking in the street.

First Spaniard.

Ah, buenas dias! Parco, how fare you?

Second Spaniard.

Oh, well enough, as goes the jogging world!
I came through yonder street, and caught a breeze
That froze me stiff as ice. I turned in here
To thaw myself again.

Third Spaniard.

Upon my word,
Hermano, you are yellow as a lemon.

Fourth Spaniard.

He will not feel much sun this morning. Whew!
I'd like to run down south a dozen leagues.

[Shrugs his shoulders.
