Other prepositions than Vtto with the genitive of the agent, though used in poetry, are not common in Attic prose: such are irapa, irpos, Ik, and dird. (See 1209, c.) 1238. 1. The perfect and pluperfect passive may have the dative of the agent. 2. The personal verbal in-tc'os takes the dative (1596), the impersonal in-rlov the dative or accusative, of the agent (1597). 1239. When the active is followed by two accusatives, or hy an accusative of a thing and a dative of a person, the case denoting a person is generally made the subject of the passive, and the other (an accusative) remains unchanged. E.g. OiSev aXXo SiSao-xerai avOpamcK, a man is taught nothing else (in the active, oiSev aAAo Sioao-Kovo-t avOptirrrov), P. Men. 87c. "A AAo ti ptitftv eiriTaxdyo-eaOe, you will have some other greater command imposed on you (active, aAAo Ti p.ti£ov vp.iv e7rtTafovo-iv, they will impose some other greater command on you), T. 1,140. This construction has nothing to do with that of 1058. The first two examples are cases of the cognate accusative (1051) of the thing retained with the passive, while the accusative or dative of the person is made the subject. 1240. 1.
