To the views, herein presented, of the condition of the Indians of the piospeels which await them, and of the only efficient remedy in;heir power o seek, or in that of the Government to apply, 1 take the liberty of adding my own testimonial, founded on an intimate intercourse with them ol eighteen eai s, hotli personal and official, under every variety of circumstances, in peace and war, and in very remote regions, as well as within our own settlements. The principles laid down in these extracts are substantially the same as those which now regulate the Government in alt their transactions with the Indians, where the question of their permanent establishment or inoval is brought under discuss ion.
