Mick Rock began his photography career by sneaking his camera into rock shows and taking pictures of the bands he liked. His career took off when he began taking pictures of a practically unknown David Bowie in 1972, and together they went on to document the rise and fall of Ziggy Stardust in photos, posters, early videos, and more. From there Mick went on to photograph a who's-who of rock, punk, and pop in a career unparalleled in music photography, capturing and defining the images of key artists and stars as they were becoming part of the pop firmament, including Lou Reed, Syd Barrett, Blondie, Queen, Iggy Pop, the Sex Pistols, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, the Killers, Lady Gaga, U2, and many more. Exposures is the definitive collection of Mick's best images, spanning his entire career. The photos published luxuriously large, in full bleed. Captions at the back by Mick describe the moment and circumstances of the photo shoots and include personal recollections of the subjects. An introduction by Mick reflects on his amazing career. A foreword by playwright Tom Stoppard speaks to the impact and influence of Micks photographs as they describe the experience of being passionate about music.About the Author:

His reputation as 'the man who shot the Seventies' was cemented with iconic images of Lou Reed, Syd Barrett, Iggy Pop, Queen, Roxy Music, The Sex Pistols, The Ramones and Blondie. More recently, Mick has photographed (among many others) Kate Moss, The Scissor Sisters, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Chemical Brothers, Richard Ashcroft, Perry Farrell, Pete Yorn, Queens of the Stone Age, and The Killers. In the last decade, he has published a series of critically acclaimed books, including Psychedelic Renegades: Photos of Syd Barrett; Moonage Daydream: The Life and Times of Ziggy Stardust; Picture This: Debbie Harry & Blondie; Raw Power: Iggy and the Stooges; Killer Queen and Rocky Horror, as well as two books on Kabuki Theatre. His classic images have also featured in major one-man shows in London, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Amsterdam, Stockholm and other cities across the world. Mick's celebrated 2003 retrospective at the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography was hailed by the Japanese press as 'one of the finest collections of pop art to ever reach these shores'. A resident of New York since the early 80s, he remains, in the words of the London Times, 'the music world's top snapper'.
