"... this book underscores the significance of the literature produced by these [women] writers, and it also illuminates the relation of and dialogue between these works and literary relations among Spanish-speaking Caribbean countries, and the literature produced by Caribbean people in the United States." - Professor Elena M. Martinez, The City University of New York"From the Publisher:
Women writers of the Spanish Caribbean have a distinct style and a very particular narrative discourse that differs from the male discourse that has traditionally dominated the literary realm of this region. The theoretical approaches used by the author are based on the Kafkian notion of 'minor' literature developed and spread by Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari in 1986. The body of the author's analysis includes the works of Puerto Rican, Dominican, and Cuban women authors.
