Beatrix Potter is one of the world's best-loved children's authors of all time. From her first book, The Tale of Peter Rabbit (1902) she went on to create a series of stories based around animal characters including Mrs Tiggy-winkle, Mr Jeremy Fisher and Tom Kitten. A source of inspiration was the Lake District where she lived for the last thirty years of her life as a farmer and conservationist.
A little girl named Lucie is always losing her pocket-handkerchiefs. One day, while searching for the lost handkerchiefs, she comes upon the door to Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle’s home inside a hill. “The Tale of Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle” is a charming story, written and illustrated by Beatrix Potter, about a hedgehog who does the washing for all the animals around a little farm in the countryside.
