Reseña del editor:
Stephen Ambrose, biographer of Dwight Eisenhower and author of "Nixon - The Education of a Politician" begins with Nixon's second drive for the presidency, which he launched at his "last press conference" on November 7 1963, after losing the race for the California governorship and takes us to an electoral triumph in 1972 when he is overwhelmingly re-elected. During his first term, Nixon accomplished an opening to China, detente with the USSR, the beginning of arms reduction. He had not ended the war in Vietnam, a war he had long known was unwinnable. He had accomplished much in foreign policy, with the help of his aide, Henry Kissinger, but had already stepped outside the law to launch an attack on his enemies. Ambrose's third volume will recount the final ordeal of Nixon as an elected official.

Descripción Hardcover. Condición: Fine. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Fine. 1st Edition. This is a fine copy (both book and dust jacket) of 'A magisterial biography by a superb historian whose command of his sources is equaled only by the compelling hold he quickly establishes over the reader'. The cloth-effect paper covered boards are unmarked (no tears, scratches or bumps) and new looking. The royal blue quarter cloth binding of the spine section and the gilt title lettering remain strong and bright albeit with some small scuff marks at the spine ends. The text block is square and tightly bound. The top edge of the text block shows some light spotting but the fore and bottom edges are unmarked. Internally all pages are clean and bright with no inscriptions or other evidence of earlier ownership, although there is a previous resale price written very small in pencil at the top of the ffep. The dust jacket retains its original crispness and gloss and is unmarked apart from a very small indentation in the middle of the front panel which is noticeable from some angles. See five photos of this book and we would be happy to further views. Nº de ref. del artículo: 217
