Descripción Hardcover. Hardcover. Teddy Kollek (1911-2007) was the first mayor of reunited Jerusalem from 1965 to 1993. He arrived in Haifa from Vienna in 1935. Early in his career he worked in many European countries to try to negotiate the escape of Jews from Hitler, and subsequently promoted the establishment of an independent Jewish state. This book details his time as mayor, working for Christians and Muslims, as well as Jews. This includes the reestablishment of Christian schools and the challenges of Arab ownership of land.
